Dawn breaks over the lagoon filled with water lilies on the Okavango delta in Botswana. Through the fly screen, Mother Nature slowly wakes up and the hustle of the night calms down for a few magical minutes where somewhere in the sky the moon crosses the sun’s path. On the private veranda of Eagle Island luxury camp, the day starts with a steaming cup of coffee watching this light display, soft and crisp as if washed by the night and cleared of all dust particles. Located on Xaxaba’s Island and surrounded by palm trees, Eagle Island Camp has managed to keep its intimate and authentic charm. From everywhere, may it be from the tents or from the communal spaces of the camp, the view of the capricious meander of the Okavango delta is poetic and induces contemplation. The activities are numerous and varied at Eagle Island Camp from the traditional safari by foot, 4×4 or by mokoro, to fishing in the lagoon, meeting with the local population at the nearby village of Xaxaba or a helicopter flight over the Okavango.
