Alila Jabal Akhdar

It was a daring feat to build a hotel on top of such a high mountain, so vertiginous that you feel a staggering weightlessness, 2000 metres high, closer to the sky… The creator of this crazy venture is the luxury hotel chain Alila Hotels. Named after the Arabic words for “green mountain”, The Alila Jabal Akhdar is built in a preserved area of the Sultanate of Oman, about 3h away from Mascate. The decor is breathtaking with the 360° panoramic view which makes you dizzy. Composed of 78 rooms and suites, Alila Jabal Akhdar was conceived with a total respect with the environment. The materials used for the outdoor architecture or for the design of the suites and communal areas are mainly local ones using wood and stones from Oman. The place looks a bit like an old fortress lost in a mineral universe, abrupt and desert-like. Focusing on the natural richness of the Sultanate of Oman, Alila Jabal Akhdar offers experiences in connection with the environment such as trekking across the canyons and the exploration of caves, as well as meeting with the local communities or learning how to cook typical food from Oman…
