In the heart of the Indian Ocean, a string of islands floating between Madagascar and the equator compose The Seychelles archipelago. The main islands are granitic, like Mahé which is home to Victoria, the capital. Considered the smallest capital in the world, Victoria is an animated town with both a British and tropical charm. After a stroll through the markets overflowing with spices or a walk around the Tour de l’Horloge – small scale-model of Big Ben – we meet up at the Pirate’s Arms, the unavoidable bar where all of Victoria converge. Its neighbour, Praslin, is characterised by its natural site listed under the UNESCO Word Heritage list: the May Valley – a refuge for the rare species of birds and the sanctuary of the famous coco de mer tree. In The Seychelles, we have selected some luxury hotels on private islets that celebrate the art of living as Robinson Crusoe did: Denis, Fregate or North Island.
